Director Michelle Peerali, is fueled by the desire to document subjects with a uniquely intimate and poetic eye, aspiring to create a personal visual experience for all viewers of her work. She attended UC Berkeley for her BA in Film Theory and English Literature and went on to receive her MFA in Directing/Writing withing Film and Television at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts. Michelle began her career assisting showrunner/director, Kevin Bright, on the hit sitcom, FRIENDS, for its final seasons along with assisting on numerous commercial and music videos, previous to becoming a full- time photographer and director.
She has collaborated with artists such as The Kills, The Cult, The Drums, Angel Haze, The Black Keys, The Black Ryder, Pyyramids, Moby, and has had work published in i-D Magazine, Paper, Nylon, a Shaded View on Fashion, and SOMA Magazine. Michelle was a featured director in 2011 Smashbox Studios FACEOFF Competition, going on to win The People's Choice Award for best video. She was also commissioned to create a film for Six Scents Parfums Series 4, which premiered at New York Fashion Week, and several of her short films screened at NY MOMA’s Abstractions Exhibit.
Recently, she Executive Produced/Directed "Candis for President", a scripted comedy series starring Candis Cayne and Andrea Metz. which is in development. Michelle also Co-Directed and Executive Produced documentary film "Interior Motives" about the world of fashion converging into interiors which screened at Tribeca Film Center and has been highly regarded by press such as Forbes, Vogue, Variety, and many other publications. The team looks forward to screening in various cities in 2018.
She is currently the DP on "Citizen Rose" a 5- part TV Docu series following Rose McGowan, her experiences with assault in the film industry, her connection to the Weinstein sexual abuse allegations of 2017, and her role in inspiring a more conscious movement around the world.
