Director Michelle Peerali, is fueled by the desire to document subjects with a uniquely intimate and poetic eye, aspiring to create a more personal visual experience for all viewers of her work. She attended UC Berkeley for her BA in Film Theory and English Literature and went on to receive her MFA in Directing/Writing withing Film and Television at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts. Michelle has worked in television production on the hit sitcom FRIENDS for its final seasons along with assisting on numerous commercial and music videos, previous to becoming a full- time photographer and director.
She has collaborated with artists such as The Kills, The Cult, The Drums, The Black Keys, The Black Ryder, Pyyramids, Moby, and has had work published in Paper, Nylon, a Shaded View on Fashion, and SOMA Magazine. Michelle is currently a freelance video contributor for i-D Magazine. She was a featured director in 2011 Smashbox Studios FACEOFF Competition, going on to win The People's Choice Award for best video. This past fall, she was commissioned to create a film for Six Scents Parfums Series 4, which premiered at New York Fashion Week, and her latest short films were screened at NY MOMA’s Abstractions Exhibit. She currently resides between Los Angeles and New York.
